The Trust exists to maintain and promote post-secondary education in the Hokianga, and continues to work with Northland Polytechnic (NorthTec) to ensure that its Rawene Campus, which has been a focus of learning for local folk, continues to offer a range of courses suited to the needs of our people.

 

We also aim to organise educational courses on our own initiative, though never in competition with local institutions. These could include summer schools and weekend courses.

 

By our Trust Deed, all post-primary institutions in the Hokianga are entitled to have at least one Trustee. At least 40% of the Trust membership must be from outside the employees of these institutions, to ensure fair representation.

 

We also organise, in alternate years, the Hokianga Filmfest and Hokianga Bookfest which attract national attention and bring well-known figures to the area for our interest and education.
