This is the photo found on page 308 of “Tracks in the North” by H.J.Hansen and F.J.Neil, published 1992. The book is available through the Far North Libraries.

The caption reads:

“The chassis of King Bros’ Kitson locomotive, dumped on the foreshore of the Hokianga Harbour at Kohukohu.  It seems unlikely that this loco ever actually worked at Kohukohu but had been barged there from Opua with King Bros mill plant in the late 1920s.”
