This is our pool, 6 metres (20ft) long, 2 m wide and 1.5 m (5 feet) deep
It is made of reinforced concrete and replaces our original pool which was fibreglass. The manufacturers used the wrong type of resin and after about a year the pool developed black blisters. So we were forced to have it removed and another firm made this one. Luckily we could reuse all the pool equipment. It has two Badu jets at the far end which you can just see, though they appear distorted due to refraction. The two controls in the middle allow air to mix with the jets if you enjoy foamy water. The pool is heated by a heat pump which is under the house, as well as all the other machinery. Up till now we have used Baquacil to sterilise the water, but we find it hard to get test strips which are not about to expire: they are expensive, too. We have read many articles (a Google search turns up over 49,000 hits!) that suggest that chlorine is bad for your health and in any case the smell would permeate our home: it may not be quite as bad for an outdoor pool. So we are looking at alternative systems, such as ozonators and similar methods.
